How much does a Lactation Consult cost?
Many insurance companies cover the costs of lactation visits. (If you ask me, ALL should!)
I've partnered with The Lactation Network (TLN) and Wildflower Health to cover your visits with me!
TLN works with several plans including: Aetna, CHO, Curative Health, First Choice Health, Imagine Health, Meritain, Multiplan, PNOA PPO plans, United Health Care, Sutter Health and Velocity.

If your insurance does not cover visits, my self-pay rate is:
$200 initial office visit, $175 follow up office visits
$285 initial home visit, $235 follow up home visit
Reduced, low cost visits are available for Medicaid, Tricare and low income families, please reach out for more information.
A Superbill will be provided for all Self Pay visits for insurance reimbursement purposes.

How do I book an appointment with you? Four easy steps for consults
Book your appointment by checking real time availability for the appointment type of your choice
Check your insurance coverage with The Lactation Network (TLN) or Wildflower Health first.
TLN is a third party biller for Aetna, Curative Health, Imagine Health, Meritain, Multiplan, PNOA, Sutter Health and Velocity PPO. Verification is generally completed within 48 hrs and we will both be notified. Once I receive notification, I’ll adjust the appointment type.
Please list URGENT / EMERGENT or Appointment Already Scheduled for faster verification.
Wildlflower Health is third party biller for Cigna. Verification is generally completed within 24hrs.
Tricare West- I am an In Network Provider- please select Tricare when scheduling, I will need your Sponsor’s information to verify coverage.
Please do NOT submit to TLN or Wildflower for Tricare verification. It will delay the process.
3. Complete the forms linked in your confirmation email- you should receive this within 30 mins of booking your appointment. If you haven’t please let me know asap via text/phone call. It’s best to have these finished before the day of your appointment, so I can gather additional resources if needed.
4. Log on or show up for your appointment & receive expert, compassionate care that meets you where you are. You’ll leave our appointment with a detailed, actionable care plan and confidence that you aren’t alone.

Financial Policy
Self Pay Visits
All visits are fee-for-service unless pre-approved for discounted rates. All home visits will include a travel fee.
A payment link will be sent for your visit fee and payment is due 24hrs prior to your appointment. Debit/Credit/HSA/FSA cards are accepted.
An itemized Superbill will be provided at the conclusion of your appointment for submission to insurance for reimbursement. There is NO guarantee of reimbursement amounts.
Insurance Pre-Approved Visits
Heather Martin, IBCLC, RLC / Beyond the Breast is contracted with the billing companies Wildflower Health for Cigna coverage and The Lactation Network (TLN) for PPO plans.
Current TLN plans include Multiplan, United Healthcare (PPO), Blue Cross Blue Shield plans with some limitations. All home visits will include a travel fee. A payment link will be sent prior to your appointment, and payment is due at time of invoice.
Prior to your appointment, if TLN determines that your insurance plan is not covered, you will be considered a Self-Pay patient and an invoice will be sent prior to our appointment.
Cancellation /No Show Policy
Cancellations made >24hrs in advance.
Any fees received will be reimbursed in full minus any processing fees (typically 2.9%+ $0.30) via the original payment method.
Cancellations made <24hrs in advance . Cancellation fee is $100.
Payments received <$50 will be charged to the card on file or you will be invoiced. Payment is due within 7days
NO Show Policy
No refund will be issued for no show appointments, the full appointment fee will be charged to the card on file regardless of self-pay or insurance covered status.
If you are having difficulty connecting for a tele-health appointment, please reach out via the contact information below and an alternative HIPPA compliant link will be shared.
Payment Processing
Beyond the Breast/ Heather Martin, IBCLC,RLC uses SquareUp for payment processing:
Payments may be made electronically using a credit card or fund transfer. I use SquareUp to process payments. SquareUp meets the high standards of HIPAA and the banking industry for security and privacy with regard to financial transactions. However, SquareUp may send, automatically or per your request, email or text message receipts that reveal personal health information such as the date and type of lactation visit. If you are not comfortable with this, payment may be made via Zelle instead.
