Expert Feeding Guidance Before Your Baby Arrives

Pregnancy brings all the feels, doesn’t it? You’re excited, scared, and anxious to meet this little person… finally. And you’re thinking about how feeding them will look for your family.
I’m Heather, and as a compassionate lactation consultant — I support your decision and help you reach your feeding goals. You’ll feel less stressed when you have answers to your specific questions from an expert. And you’ll feel prepared knowing what to do next.

Working with an IBCLC before your baby arrives sets you up for success and builds your confidence in those early sleep-deprived days. You’ll understand different positions, your own milk supply, and proper latching.
Plus, you’ll already know a great lactation consultant near you if anything pops up after the baby arrives!
Prepare With One Visit Before Your Baby Gets Here
"Thank you for answering all of my questions. Your calm and listening ear have been so helpful. You've truly gone Beyond the Breast to help us reach our goals."  Chelsea K.

Your Prenatal Lactation Visit Includes:

  • 90-120 Minute Consult
Let’s dive into your biggest concerns and goals for feeding. Each family has unique needs, like whether you’ll go back to work in 4 weeks, 12, or stay home. Or if you decide to pump exclusively, that support looks different than breastfeeding.
Other topics we’ll cover include:
               Milk production
  • Positioning at breast
  • Latching
  • Understanding hunger cues
  • Common difficulties
  • When and how to pump
  • When to seek help &
  • Community support.
       8-Week Feeding Plan
We’ll create a specific plan and discuss what the first 8 weeks look like feeding your newborn. Babies do a lot of changing in that short time — and so does your body! Know what to expect and understand how to approach things like cluster feeding, bottle refusal, and pacifier use.

     Reliable Resources
For feeding problems like tongue tie, you may need outside referrals. You’ll get a detailed list of the best pediatric providers in the Fort Worth area. You won’t do this part alone either. I work with local professionals to make sure your baby receives the best care possible.

Plus, you get direct access to my expert knowledge through text/phone/email support for two weeks after our visit. Get answers and reassurance for last-minute questions before your baby comes!
Prenatal lactation visits can be held in the comfort of your home, in my office, or virtually.

When do you recommend I see you?
I love seeing expecting parents between 32-36 weeks. Pregnancy’s so much already! We don’t want to risk a visit too early and you forgetting a bunch of stuff. And you don’t want to feel like you’re cramming at the end either (because just getting through the day is enough!). So I recommend the last trimester.
When will my milk supply come in?
Just like every baby’s unique — so is producing milk! Trust your body. At the very beginning, your baby only needs a few drops of colostrum (which you make first, and it’s yellowish).

That tiny belly grows everyday, and your supply should naturally follow (and turn more white). Try not to worry, but reach out with questions if you want to.
How often should my newborn be eating?
Typically 10-12 times a day… so every 2-3 hrs with a couple of longer sleep stretches (fingers crossed). It varies depending on milk supply, labor and delivery, any complications that occurred during labor, and if your baby was premature or not. We cover this and more in our visit!
Do I need to wake my baby every 2-3 hours to feed?
Maybe. Let’s talk about it to see what’s right for your family. Did your baby arrive earlier than anticipated or did you have labor/delivery complications? How’s your milk supply or baby’s weight? Your newborn may benefit from more scheduled feeding sessions, but these factors help us figure that out.
Where's your office?
My office is conveniently located inside The Chiropractic Place for Mommy & Me at 203 E Oak St in Aledo, Texas. The building sits behind Aledo Flower Shoppe, there's a big sign at the end of the driveway to help guide families. Check-in at the front and they tell me you’ve arrived.
how do I set up an appointment with you?
  1. The Lactation Network may work with your insurance (even for a prenatal visit!) — check here first.
  2. Book online with me here!
  3. Follow all prompts and links in any emails. (Check spam or other folders!)

"Loved working with Heather! I was able to book with her quickly to see me and our newborn. She was very informative and walked us hands on through our breastfeeding struggles. Heather was a breath of fresh air for this first time mom! She took very good care of us both and I am so grateful for her guidance through such a stressful time! It also doesn’t hurt that you can tell she LOVES what she does, go see Heather!"   Ariana M
