FAQ'S
What should I expect at a consult?
Consults are typically 1.5-2 hours in length.  You can expect an observed feeding session either at the breast, via bottle or other tool, a weight check for baby, an exam of the breast and nipple with possible gentle touch(with permission only), an oral exam of baby's mouth(with a gloved finger), tips for positioning and latch based on observations, a list of resources and a written care plan.  Within 24 hrs you'll also receive an emailed copy of your personalized care plan and an Insurance Superbill. (That's fancy for reimbursement form)
Are you in - Network with insurance companies?
My private practice is not within network for any Insurance Company.  The Superbill I provide for families is often accepted per the ACA guidelines for Lactation Care.  Should they not cover services (& they should), I advise all clients to file their receipts for tax purposes at the end of the year.
Can my partner attend our consult?
Absolutely!  I love to meet supportive partners or family during consults.  As long as you are comfortable baring your chest in front of them, there's not normally a reason for concern.  In the early days and weeks after baby's arrival, it's often helpful to have a second or third set of ears to help in both understanding and remembering key points to help you be as successful as possible.
Do I need to do any thing to prep for a consult?
I am not going to do a home inspection, so please don't worry about your home's appearance or yours.  I do ask for a small, sturdy flat surface for my scale so we can have the most accurate weight possible.  My only other request is that animals are placed in either a separate room or outside.  While I love animals, they are often upset by visitors around their new charges and event the calmest animal may react unexpectedly.
can I call or Email you after our Appointment?

Yes, until your Initial Concerns are either addressed or resolved.  While I have experience with many breast feeding challenges, I do not have a crystal ball or magic wand, I expect to hear from you, but I won't hound you either- you've got a sweet new baby to love on!  If your concerns aren't fully addressed during our Initial or Follow up session if needed, please call/email/text so we can make a plan together to help you find your success- whatever/however that may look.
( I don't respond to emails or texts after business hours, I will return them asap the next business day.)
